|link| Peter Jackson, director of the Lord of the Rings, has decided he will remake the famed King Kong (which he’s always wanted to do) for his next project. It will be based on the original 1933 RKO script (link for script at the bottom of the page). Hopefully he’ll do a better job than someone did with remaking Godzilla…

Hawkeye sent us this about the discovery of a new element: Corporatium.
News in PHYSICS - New Element discoveredA major research institution recently announced the discovery of the heaviest element yet known to science. This new element tentatively has been named “Corporatium”. Corporatium has 1 neutron, 12 assistant neutrons, 75 deputy neutrons, and 111 assistant deputy neutrons, giving it an atomic mass of 312.
These 312 particles are held together by a force called morons, which are surrounded by vast quantities of lepton-like particles called peons. Since Corporatium has no electrons, it is inert. However, it can be detected as it impedes every reaction with which it comes into contact. A minute amount of Corporatium causes one reaction to take over 4 days to complete when it would normally take less than a second.
Corporatium has a normal half-life of 3 years; it does not decay but instead undergoes a reorganization, in which a portion of the assistant neutrons and deputy neutrons and assistant deputy neutrons exchange places. In fact, Corporatium’s mass will actually increase over time, since each reorganization causes some morons to become neutrons forming isodopes. This characteristic of moron-promotion leads some scientists to speculate that Corporatium is formed whenever morons reach a certain quantity in concentration.
This hypothetical quantity is referred to as “Critical Morass.”

|link| What if we do manage to create sentient machines? What will they do? Alot of science fiction deals with this topic, from Terminator to the Matrix to 2001: a Space Odyssey. This essay explores this issue, it’s history, and some thoughts on human intelligence (or *percieved* intelligence).

Hawkeye sent us these little gems of rhetorical questions:
“I am” is reportedly the shortest sentence in the English language. Could it be that “I do” is the longest sentence?
Do Roman paramedics refer to IV’s as “4’s”? If Fed Ex and UPS were to merge, would they call it Fed UP? Do Lipton Tea employees take coffee breaks? What hair color do they put on the drivers licenses of bald men? I was thinking about how people seem to read the Bible a whole lot more as they get older, then it dawned on me: they’re cramming for their final exam. I thought about how mothers feed their babies with tiny little spoons and forks, so I wondered, what do Chinese mothers use?Toothpicks? Why do they put pictures of criminals up in the post office? What are we supposed to do, write to them? Why don’t they just put their pictures on postage stamps so the mailmen could look for them while they deliver the mail? If it’s true that we are here to help others, then what exactly are the others here for? You never really learn to swear until you learn to drive. No one ever says “It’s only a game,” when their team is winning. Ever wonder what the speed of lightning would be if it didn’t zigzag?

My sister sent this one along…
In pharmacology, all drugs have a generic name:Tylenol is acetaminophen, Aleve is naproxen, Amoxil is amoxicillin, Advil is ibuprofen, and so on. The FDA have been looking for a generic name for Viagra, and has announced that it’s settled on mycoxafloppin. Also considered were mycoxafailin, mydixadrupin, mydixarizn, mydixadud, dixafix and of course, ibepokin.
