Robot Police

|link| Not sure how I missed posting this previously, but Kymberlee reminded me… This is a great little movie about Robot Police patrolling the streets of poorer countries. (Quicktime).

Picard Strikes Back

|link| Picard asks the question we all ask ourselves at some point in our lives, “Who am I?” It didn’t take him long to find the answer. (warning: audio)

Forma Urbis Romae

|link| Once upon a time there was a complete map of ancient Rome carved onto a huge slab of rock. The rock broke into over a thousand pieces and just like Humpty Dumpty, some folks at Stanford U. are trying to put it back together again.

For an idea of how daunting this is check out this chunk and look how it fits into this small section of this absolutely huge map (examples are from the Theater of Pompey). An impressive jigsaw puzzle!

God Checker

|link| Your guide to the Gods; mythology with a twist! The site is still in the works but has quite a number of gods, including The Holy Snail. I found the search to be the easiest way to find a god if you already know the name. Now I can go back to reading about witchcraft in Iceland.

D&D Turns 30

|link| Dungeons and Dragons, the “first” role playing game, turns 30 this year. I remember playing as a kid and in college and would still be playing if time permitted. “People often say playing D&D is like writing your own movie at a table. But of course there are no million dollar special effects - so imagination must fill in the blanks.” I will imagine Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson getting along for once and have an ale in a pub somewhere in celebration.

Escape from Colditz

|link| During World War II, the Nazi army sent Allied captives to this prison if they escaped from less secure facilities. With over 130 escapes from the “unescapable” Castle Colditz, you got to wonder what other prisons were like.
