Comparing Book to Movie

|link| Adaptions of books to make movies is common, and often those adaptions are seriously mangled by Hollywood for the sake of marketing, false ideas of what audiences will enjoy, and sometimes simply because the book doesn’t lend itself to easy visualization.

The linked site is one man’s breakdown of The Lord of the Rings showing as many differences between the book and the movie as possible. Very detailed and sometimes funny, I suprisingly forgot many of the variations myself. Warning: if you haven’t seen the extended DVD releases of the movies you might want to hold off reading this link as it will contain some spoilers.

Do you think Peter Jackson’s adaption of the story (not the look and feel he created) was good, good enough, or simply bad?

Lemmings Aren’t Suicidal

|link| Apparently the idea that lemmings are suicidal on a massive scale is complete bunk. The Disney Company made it up for a nature film they put out in 1958 in which they completely fabricated the scene with imported lemmings. Apparently drama is more important than reality for Disney. Thinking about how they mangled other stories (compare any of their Brothers Grimm rip offs) I suppose this shouldn’t suprise me, but it’s sad to think that this metaphorical image of calling a group of people “lemmings” is permanent at this point, yet false. *sigh*

The Gayest Little X-Mas MusicVideo (oneword)

|link| Here is the gayest little X-Mas MusicVideo (oneword) ever!

NHK and cmatte certify it as supergay (oneword)—but not in the good way—after a night of waching AHL hockey and taking a *lot* of Percocet®.

Q! Who Is Smicha?

Normally we don’t single out individuals here on OOKEE.com except, perhaps, Mookee because it’s fun. We either accept you (unless you’re blatantly stupid) or ignore you. Smicha has left a string of (what I consider) hilarious comments here, here, here, here (which was an article he or she submitted rather anonymously), and here. So my question to you, dear Readers, is:

Who is Smicha?

(Before any of you make any assumptions, I am not Smicha. -dugh)
