True Doctor Stories

This set of doctor’s humorous stories comes to us from cmatte by way of NHK, who assures us that cmatte is a registered nurse. As funny, or scary, as that might sound these little bits are, indeed, a good chuckle.

Los Angeles, Mexico

|link| A billboard in Los Angeles has the “CA” crossed out and “Mexico” in its place. If true, then quite controversial and kinda funny. Personally I think it’s a carefully doctored image. This would explain why the word “Mexico” in the picture is misaligned with the angle of the billboard.

What SciFi/Fantasy Character Are You?

|link| Which Science Fiction or Fantasy character are you? Another quiz to prove what a geek you are; don’t worry, it said I’m Wesley Crusher from Star Trek: Next Gen.

The Highlander vs. Evil Dead

|link| What would happen if Connor McCloud from Highlander and Ash from Evil Dead got in a fight? This French claymation answers the question. Some nice moments for fans of the film, and a great little Matrix moment. Did they make the right decision with the winner?

See Recent Pics from Livejournal

|link| Livejournal is an online blogging system popular with teens and various malcontents. The linked site searches Livejournal for the 40 most recent pictures posted to the system. Sometimes you can get interesting results, and sometimes NSFW. I thought we’d linked to this before but couldn’t find it.

Scary Hacker

|link| Here’s a little story about a guy on an IRC (chat) channel that gets pissed off and tries to hack the narrator’s computer. When asked for his IP address, the narrator gives 127.0.0.1; for those of you not in the know that is your own computer and is used for diagnostics (among other things). Gleefully the scary hacker starts deleting files on the narrator’s computer…

Zombies at the Window

|link| “Zombies occasionally try to break into my living room. Through the third-story window.” Just a single picture.

I’m wondering if we need to come up with categories for “zombies” and “pirates”…

NASSA: The Lost History

|link| Everyone knows about NASA and its space program, putting man on the moon and robots on Mars and Titan. Not many people know about NASSA, the Old Negro Space Program and its brave blackstronauts. The video is large, ~73MB, but well worth the wait.

In the Company of Theives

Can you imagine working for a company that has a little more than 500 employees and has the following statistics:

29 have been accused of spousal abuse and 7 have been arrested for fraud.

9 have been accused of writing bad checks and 117 have directly or indirectly bankrupted at least two businesses. 71 cannot get a credit card due to bad credit.

3 have done time for assault and 14 have been arrested on drug-related charges.

8 have been arrested for shoplifting. 21 are currently defendants in lawsuits.

84 have been arrested for drunk driving in the last year.

Can you guess which company this is?

DOS versus Mac

|link| I had never heard of this until today, but apparently Umberto Eco many years ago wrote this comparison of Wintel (Protestant or possibly Calvinist ethos) and Macintosh (Catholic ethos) users. Humorous and still relevant!
