Plush Zombies

Quote of the week:

Do people really want plush zombie dolls for Halloween? Because I’m not seeing how cotton and velveteen are the best media for expressing the idea of rotting flesh. I mean, plush vampires maybe, they could have cute little velvet fangs with drops of blood sewn on their mouths–

This from a rather strange story that would probably make a great scene from a movie.

Hogwarts RPG

It was bound to happen and it did: Here is Hogwarts Live, an online text based role playing game. Even better, you can interact with other people. Just watch out for the Slytherins who yell profanities at you.

Despotism

This video shows methods to determine whether you live in a Democratic or Despotic society. It includes simple measures to follow. They should show this in schools. In fact someone should show it in the executive, legislative and judicial branches today. Via bOING bOING and others.

George Takei to Reprise Sulu

George Takei, famous for playing Star Trek’s Hikaru Sulu, will reprise his role in an upcoming episode of Star Trek New Voyages. If you haven’t seen any of the New Voyages check them out. Kind of cheesy, but with an honesty and integrity that I think many Trek fans have been missing for some time now.

The Bridge Home Theater

Clearly some people love the home theater experience and Star Trek to the point to obsession. The only thing I think he should have done was built consoles in the LCARS mode to house the digital remotes and made them chirp and beep when buttons were pushed.

iTunes Signature Maker

This is pretty cool. It’s on online Java application that will scour your iTunes music folder for non-DRM music, find out what’s been most played, and then extract bits of each song and put them in one audio file that you can then listen in on. There are parameters you can tweak and you don’t need iTunes open to make the audio signature. Give it a go!

I’ll post my file in the comments when I get one that isn’t quite so embarrassing…
