Not content with the ongoing series running currently, SciFi has decided that Battlestar Galactica needs a prequel. The story would deal with the origins of the Cylons, which could be interesting, but is unnecessary. Humanity made them, they rebelled, they have a plan. ‘Nuff said.

It might be interesting but I’m kind of tired of prequels. They don’t generally work. Look at Enterprise and the latest produced Star Wars movies. Still, if it’s going to work I’d be willing to bet these are the people to actually pull it off.

Yeah, but they’re going to make it so the Adama family figure strongly in it. That’s needlessly messianic.

Well, the Enterprise and Star Wars prequels were created by people that didn’t understand their audience or their material so that the prequel lacked life, reference, focus and/or purpose. And because the stories didn’t ring true they had no reason for the prequels to begin with, thats why they failed but when it works like it did in the Godfather part two its just amazing to the entire genere.
I think that the writers of BG2 have proven that they have nothing but the story at heart and they have led people into what was a dead franchise and brought new and vibrant life back to it.
So I really can’t wait for the show to start. Even if its only last a little while it will definitely be worth the watch for the deep story. Jon E
