While everyone in America is going bananas over Apple’s newly release iPhone (anyone have theirs yet?) Japan has been way ahead of the curve. Their cell phones (called “ketai”) and what they can use them for are leaps and bounds ahead of us. In fact, there’s now an x-ray cell phone… Women beware! Via Japundit.

Wow, If only it were true…
On the other hand, Sony’s Night Vision enabled video cameras of 6 years ago had this kind of technology.
Oh, and on the iPhone, no I do not have one nor will I get one because AT&T disables voice dial on all their phones. They have a $5 a month service that lets you dial *8 and that connects you to their voice dial system that you have to had set up online for only the names you type into a web form.
Screw that, and screw AT&T.
Also lack of swappable battery, and the fact that it takes too many steps to access the phone portion and select a contact to dial. Since my primary use would be as a phone, and it lacks features that my two year old V710 has, I see no need for it.
Do I want one? Sure, once they get a decent carrier, enable standard phone embedded voice dial, 3G, downloadable content from iTunes (podcasts directly to the phone), a one touch physical button that takes me directly to the phone application, and an easily replaceable battery.

Also, it’s $500-600 USD. For a *phone*. Frivol. Better to spend that money on a long weekend in Hawaii.
