Occupations of Star Trek and Doctor Who Fans

You always knew that certain TV shows influenced their fans to follow in the steps of their show heroes, but little did we know quite how much. Now io9.com has the results of a survey which shows the occupational breakdown of the fans of Star Trek and Doctor Who. While the preponderance of participants aspired to join the many fields of science, they are primarily in the mathematics and computer fields.

Where do you fall? What career did you hope to be in and which field are you actually in?

Looks like I’m fairly typical of the Star Trek fans who responded. Discovered the series in reruns, was working towards a science based career (linguistics, though I diverted into education doing ESL), and ended up in computers.

    Ugh.
