Axe Cop – The Awesomerest Superhero

I have few words for Axe Cop other than it is the most awesome of awesome stories written by a five year old kid. Just watch the trailer for a taste of the awesome!

Space Battleship Yamato / Star Blazers to be Live Action

HQ version available here. The official site is here though there isn’t much info yet. We have to wait until December 2010 to see this. I’m sure someone over at Viz is working on getting this over here, right? Right?

Via Topless Robot.

Chainsaw Maid

Brutal claymation zombies being hacked apart by a flirty maid with a chainsaw complete with Japanese subtitles. Can it get more awesome? Thanks to Redge for the link!

Just just know there has to be a follow up to deal with the Dad…

Tais-Toi Mon Coeur

This music video for the French band Dionysos called Tais-Toi Mon Coeur is both beautiful and haunting. Apparently it is a big concept album, where the album is the soundtrack for a book. Whatever, I’ve watched the video a couple times and will have to see if I can get the song for my iPod… Link found on Brass Goggles.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance Cinematic

I’m not really into the Marvel comics universe. There was always something that just didn’t jive with me. That being said, I really like the animation in this Marvel Ultimate Alliance Cinematic. I’d even dare to shoot the Son of Odin. In the back.

Girl Fight!

When I first ran into this video I was a little confused. What are these two Japanese school girls fighting about? I don’t speak Japanese, so I asked my friends to translate. According to Hiromi (and thanks for the help!):

They are arguing if Black Jack is a Japanese or not.
“His name is Jack, so he must be a foreigner.”
“It was a Japanese guy was playing his role for TV drama, so he is Japanese.”
At the end, the boy says if you take a picture of the QR code, you will find out the answer.

I think he is Japanese. His name is 黒男。

I suppose there are worse things to fight about!

Kaneda’s Motorcycle

Even though it’s still just a concept vehicle, I want one. Kaneda’s motorcycle from the manga and anime Akira was one of the coolest, most amazing things I’d seen before or since. But maybe that’s just me. I’ll take his outfit, too…

Lasse Gjertsen’s Awesome Videos!

I don’t know who Lasse Gjertsen is, but someone hire him because he’s a great little filmmaker and it would be awesome to see him continue to make these crazy little videos. Hey, Lasse! Apply to Pixar! Many thanks to Redge for sending the links!

What would happen if your shadow ran away? Lasse finds out. I’m not sure what this says about life and death.

In Hyperactive we see Lasse experimenting with video editing and beats with pretty funny results.

Finally here is one of Lasse’s animated bits about football (soccer) in the future when criminals play against each other… to the death.

Lasse has loads more videos, and you can watch them after the jump! Read the rest of this entry »
