Adidas Cantina

I’m not sure what it has to do with the World Cup, or what it has to do with Adidas, or even what it has to do with Star Wars, but this as has all three in a rather well done video mashup.

Cycling for Parkinson’s

Freezing of gait is one of the incapacitating symptoms often observed in patients with Parkinson’s disease.

Last week’s issue of NEJM showed an striking result in a patient who could barely initiate gait due to advanced parkinsonism. Cycling preserved his ability to initiate and keep movement. They call it kinesia paradoxica.

For some reason this reminded me to Clive Wearing’s ability to play piano despite his massive loss of the hippocampus leading to one of the most famous cases of amnesia/moment-to-moment consciousness.

Ninja Nunchuck Sports Master

I’ve come to think of nunchucks as kind of silly weapons, the province of mullet-haired teenagers who wear Viet-Nam era fatigues and brag about their hands being registered weapons. This guy kind of makes me respect them a bit more. Not so much in their fighting utility, but more in their sporting uses.

Video Tastiness

bOING bOING got old a long time ago when I discovered they were posting things sometimes long after they were relevant. I still read the site but usually don’t bother to link to stuff they have (often because we already have). Today, though, they linked to two awesome videos that I just have to share (no, I hadn’t seen them before, which is why I’m linking them now).

If you want an adrenaline rush, try jumping off a cliff and flying like a squirrel. And once you’re done with that enjoy the awesomeness that is Star Wars as told by someone who really doesn’t know the story. That had me laughing…

Who Wants to Play Muggle Quidditch?

Apparently several universities on the east coast of America have formed a Quidditch league, based on the game from the Harry Potter books by JK Rowling. Obviously there isn’t any flying on broomsticks in this Muggle version but still… I want to play!

The Return of Terry Tate

Terry Tate is back on the trail… The campaign trail! You might have missed it, but he visited Katie Couric when she interviewed Sarah Palin.

He visited again a bit later.

Terry definitely wants everyone to vote!

Sumo Wrestling Censored…?

Sumo wrestling is terribly manly despite the skimpy outfits. Which is why when pictures of sumo wrestling are pixelated to “censor” parts, things get interesting
