So here we are, barely a week into 2009. What are the top five New Year’s Resolutions people make that they break within the first week of the year?
What resolutions have you already broken?
What would be the top five event sponsors?
1) Marlboro Man Marathon
2) Absolute Indy 500
3) Crystal Meth Hot Dog Eating Contest
4) Greenpeace Ultimate Fighting Championship
5) PETA Bass Masters Tournament of Champions
It’s time to bring back the top five.
Top five things that annoy Dugh.
What are your top five epic movies of all time? Will you go old school … Ben Hur? Religious … Ten Commandments? More recent … Troy?
If you can only think of one good epic, that’s fine.
Name your top five ACTORS of all time. Genre doesn’t matter. Action, drama, what are your top five actors?
It’s the end of 2006 and it seems everyone is doing lists of what was memorable in 2006. We won’t exempt ourselves!
What are your favorite five items of 2006? They can be movies, political events, music, completely personal, books, sports, or anything you want.
I was going to put up a top five musical headlines, but the commentary getting there led to this hypothetical … much better.
CAGE MATCH. Take two figures from history (any time, any period), and put them in a No Holds Barred Cage fight.
1. Sampson (with hair) vs. Hercules
2. Alexander (the Great) vs. Julius Ceasar
3. Hitler vs. Napoleon
4. Emperor Constantine vs. Osama bin Laden
5. Winston Churchill vs. Teddy Roosevelt
(HM) FDR vs. Timmy
(HM) Mozart vs. Beethoven
6. Alien vs. Predator (ooops…sorry, it was already done, and apparently it sucked. Scratch them off my list).
I’ve got plenty of others … I actually sense an actual post in this, but I’ll leave it here for now.
Recently TV Land posted a list of the 100 Greatest Quotes and Catch Phrases from television. While I love the idea, and many of the phrases are good, I was a bit annoyed that they included historical quotes. Take for example the difference between #1 and #2 … while “Here’s Johnny” is probably more recognizable that “…that’s one small step for a man…” but higher on a ranked list? No.
Had their list not included historical statements it would have been a great post. So … I’m going to make a list of the best historical quotes of all time (I’ll post it on mookee eventually). They should be well known, even if you’re not sure who said them.
So … top five, in any order, historical quotes (if you have more, that’s great, right now I’m just making a list).
- “Give me liberty or give me death”
- “These are the times that try men’s souls”
- “A house divided against itself cannot stand”
- “That’s one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind”
- “We have nothing to fear but fear itself”
- “Speak softly but carry a big stick”
- “Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country”
Just as an idea. This is more things that people would recognize … for while Polk’s description of Manifest Destiny is a great speech, it’s not really a “catch phrase.”
Give me some help if you can, if you can’t, try to find something.
It’s Election Day in the USA. What are the results you would never, ever expect to see this year?
What are five things I could be doing now since I can’t fall asleep?
